Re: Someone has the same phone number as me

Hello, I have EE and it is indeed possible to have the same phone number as someone else. I'm getting endless calls/texts from somewhere in the middle east, I'm in someone's family group chats(!), it's bizarre and concerning because surely my number buddy is part of my group chats too!

The post you replied to was quite old, hence yours has been moved to a new thread. You are also incorrect in your assertion that mobile numbers can be duplicated between users.

It sounds like you're using a chat app, which does not manage mobile numbers or route calls/texts in the same way as the mobile network does.

Thank you for responding and creating the thread. It is not a matter of Whatsapp alone - I get calls all the time with confused Arabic coming down the line of my normal phone call system, and innocent no reply texts from the same GP surgery reffering to an Arabic lady.  By the way, I mentioned EE but I meant Lyca, more specifically.

Hi @RobinsonMcCruso

Do you have an EE SIM card or Lyca?

Leanne.

That does not mean your number is duplicated, which is not possible. It sounds like someone has inadvertently given their contacts and a GP surgery the wrong number in error. Your number is close to theirs, possibly only a digit out.

Hi @Leanne_T

Lyca

@bristolian Yes, however this has been the case since I got the sim, which means for a relatively long time they've had many contacts, including their family chat and doctor, who have been unable to contact them on their phone, with no sign of correction, which is pretty extraordiary, especially considering that this has been the case from the start of my contract. I only just realised my whatsapp had an old number attached (the sim is still in the phone's 2nd slot) and when I updated the number my whats app started filling with Arabbic messages.
