Am I right in thinking, I am in contract monthly. If I text roaming 150 the day I go to Greece will I only get charged for the 7 days ? I take it I have to cancel on return. I don’t want to pay £25 for a month.

@JuneBB : You are mixing up 2 separate but connected things:

  1. Texting ROAMING to 150. This enables you to roam on mobile networks abroad & is free. Normally you would never cancel it.
  2. Texting ROAMING PASS to 150. This allows you to use most if not all of your UK allowances in the EU (& a few other countries). It costs £25 / billing month. You would cancel at the end of your trip by texting STOP ROAMING PASS to 150.

Without doing the 1st, the 2nd is useless.

You need to be clear on the two elements to roaming.

1: The free roaming facility - this enables your phone to use foreign networks, without which you won't get coverage abroad. This is the ROAMING text to 150, no charge.

2: Your choice of billing add-on. If you are only travelling for 7days, you're better off paying the daily £2.47 charge for any day you use your UK allowance - making or receiving calls, sending texts or using mobile data. 7 days @ £2.47 = £17.29

Whenever you add the £25/month roaming pass, you must effectively keep it until at least the end of your current bill cycle.

@JuneBB  Just have the daily charge.   £17.29 = 7 days.   It’s not a great but it’s better than £25 for 7 days.
