Re: Outgoing call barred (while in France)

I have this same exact problem but I can't call the number you say because calls are barred and I don't have Skype, and my partners phone is already ee so insists her phone is fine (which it is). How can I have my phone changed to stop call barring?

Hello @Jon161 ,

Welcome to the community,

Why not download and install Skype? It does not cost anything to use the free number.

I take it you are on a monthly contract and not pay as you go, as pay as you go is automatically enabled for roaming?

Pity customers do not think to check before going abroad, that they are all set up for using their equipment when roaming.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using Skype or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.
Hi,
Thanks for the sarcasm, I checked before I went, I screenshotted that all.my allowances were correct. I manage to phone ee on my son's non-ee phone and the guy said all settings are correct so it should have worked, he had to get the tech department involved to fix it

regards
Jon

Sarcasm didn't help as it should all have worked- as I checked before I left, the tech dept had to get involved and fix the problem at EEs end

Hi @Jon161

It is not sarcasm pointing out the obvious as @Schockwave  has done. Clearly you havent checked or it would work. Roaming is not activated by default on pay monthly contracts unless you specifically asked for it at the time of purchase. One of the main reasons is the cost and not everyone is eligible becase some people need to pay a  refundable deposit.

You have three options if you want the service activated:

  1. Download Skype over wifi or tethering to your partners phone and use the Freephone number in my signature.
  2. Use your partners phone to call CS.
  3. Use live chat. https://ee.co.uk/contact-ee/account-billing/mobile

Once activated it can take upto 24 hours for your service to work.

EE roaming calculator can be found here:

https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/roaming

Thanks

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone. You can call Freephone +44 800 079 8586 on Skype

EE standard opening hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 9pm - Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 8pm.

I said it was an EE fault. My contract has full roaming as it is pre Brexit. The problem has been fixed by EE and they apologised for their fault. Sarcasm/incorrect blame does not help resolve issues that are not the customers doing.

When I spoke to them they said it should all be working as it is (and was)  all active on my account.

Your pre-July 2021 contract may very well have full roaming costs covered, but like everyone else, it may not have permission/ability to roam unless you had texted ROAMING to 150 before you travelled.
