Re: Getting a code while abroad

Hi - I have the same problem. Many websites use the activation code system sent by SMS to log in.

I currently in central Africa and cannot receive neither calls neither messages. I called the customer service yesterday  but they couldn't activate the roaming. It's quite expensive to call from by phone. I cannot see your skype.

I have a monthly payment contract and, didn't have to do anything in the past to be able to use my phone over here. This is the first time it's happening.

With thanks,

Your post has been moved to a new thread, although something here is not adding up.

You did the right thing contacting CS, but say they couldn't activate roaming. Did you ask why not? No-one can do so!

However, you mention using your phone abroad previously - this would mean roaming's already active (unless you've requested it removed). Did you receive a welcome text message on first arrival abroad?

Try selecting an alternative local network manually - this should resolve issues with specific foreign networks if that's the problem.

@Nas66 , you need to download Skype and install it, then you can ring customer service for free via wifi. You should not need to enable roaming, if you have used it in the past and not disabled it.

Skype is a web based app.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using web based app or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

There is no "your Skype" as such. You just use Skype to phone a specific number, the Freephone no. in my sig.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Hi - Thanks for your help. It works now. I had to "manually" select the local network as advised.

Many thanks!

Best,
