Putting old SIM card in new phone abroad

Hi I have a new iPhone 11 but didn’t get a chance to put my SIM card in it from my old phone. Im outside the uk for work (and haven’t returned because of crisis) but my old phone is dying and I need to swap the sim. Am I able to do this from

an EU country without having issues?

If the sim card is already activated then yes this will be fine.

Did you get it to work? am in Canada and have put my sim card into an iphone 8, its saying outgoing calls are blocked, I can receive texts from the UK and within Canada only

Are you a pay as you go customer or pay monthly?

 

If you are pay monthly could you please log in to your My EE and follow these steps:

 

Settings > Roaming. 

 

Are both calling abroad and roam worldwide active?
