I added ROAMING to my account a few days before leaving UK and received texts saying it’s ready to use. It’s been added to my bill. However, I am unable to make any calls, either to US or UK numbers. Have tried switching on and off; have done everything I’ve seen on the forum here, including trying to contact customer services, which doesn’t work!
Please help! I need to contact the home my elderly mother is in….
Thank you in anticipation ,
Ann

For others having the same problem this might be a solution…….
Have solved it after a lengthy on line chat with EE…..
My phone was set to automatically choose the network on roaming…..it went to AT&T. After sliding the automatic choice off and changing to T Mobile I now have full signal and can make calls to both US and UK

@Annmcguff : As you are on contract, did you activate roaming on your EE a/c before you left UK by texting ROAMING to 150? Having a roaming add-on doesn't of itself activate roaming on your a/c.
Often just rebooting the phone is the simple remedy. Also try selecting a network manually rather than auto. Otherwise login to your MyEE account online & go to Menu > Account Settings > Parental and Data Controls > Roaming Abroad and also Call Abroad and Premium Rate. They will show as ticked if roaming and calling abroad is activated. If not ticked, can you activate these settings?
If you can't enable the Roaming Abroad and the Call Abroad & Premium Rate settings of your online MyEE, you will need to call CS. Try calling CS on the Freephone no. in my sig. via Skype over WiFi. It should be free.

So I had the same problem with two phones - data was working, but not calls (though texts also worked). I don't believe its actually AT&T that is the problem, but that sometimes when your phone first registers on a network it fails somehow, leaving it messed up. What you need to do is register with any other network, then turn back on automatic registration, and let it do its thing.
Phone 1 - was registered with AT&T via automatic registering. Changed it to Verizon and it worked. Changed it back to AT&T and it still worked.
Phone 2 - an additional wrinkle - for some reason - VoLTE calls - Use 4g whenever possible for calls - was turned off. I had to enable this, and also do the force a change of network thing.
One more thing - when I arrived in the USA the phones got a message about some ridiculous addon that would cost over £7 a day and have only 1gb data. Before leaving I had asked them to set up the "Roam Anywhere", which costs £10 a month and extends your whole plan to the USA and Canada. So I was surprised to get the wrong text messages. Upshot was I was on the £10 option, and I checked by testing ROAMING to 150, which confirmed it.
If you are traveling to the USA, or indeed most countries, you should ask about Roam Anywhere, if its available on your plan!
