My phone is not working in the US. EE say that there is no reason they can see why it is not working. Everything else including phoning via WhatsApp is working. When I try and call out it doesn’t go through and when people try and call me it registers as phone in use. Texts also don’t work. Any ideas?

Are you on pay as you go or contract? You can only do what I have written if on contract, if on pay as you go, you need to make sure you have enough credit.
Can you check that roaming, call abroad and premium calls are all set as enabled? If it says blocked and you cannot enable this, you will have to give EE a call, which you can do using Skype, as there is a free number:

Have you tried restarting your phone or manually selecting an alternative local network?
What do you mean by "it registers as phone in use" for incoming calls?
