Hello,
I have moved to Qatar permanently and recently when I visited the UK I changed from a pay monthly to a PAYG to keep my number as I use it for a lot of log ins.
I have put credit on and now just signed back upto a pay monthly rolling plan to try and sort the issue. I cannot receive or make any calls. Really unhelpful for my baking verification, my wife has tried to call my number. I can't even call any of the EE numbers from my phone to try and get help. I have spent hours this morning trying to get through to someone. I really need this resolved as I use the number for alot of important apps.
It's like since it's changed over it isn't set up for overseas and I've tried everything. Can someone please call me. Even though the number isn't working?

Hello @Billysaun ,
Welcome to the community,
You should have used your SIM card in the UK when changing to pay as you go first to activate it, as it will not work, neither will changing it back to monthly contract, as it needs activating in the UK first.
Your only way of sorting this out, would be to send the SIM card back to the UK to get someone to activate it and then send it back and make sure that roaming is activated on your account with the monthly contract. You would have to use another way of ringing customer service by using an app and using the numbers in my signature..
This is not customer service, but a public forum where no one has access to accounts and does not know who you are, also customer service will not call you, it is up to you to do so.

To add to the previous response...

A lack of ability to receive calls is caused by a lack of network connection abroad.
No idea what "everything" is that you've tried, but if you didn't use your new PAYG SIM in the UK first - that's the cause of your issues, and thus the only fix is to do so.

Let's clarify what you mean by "the SIM is activated".
You mention that "I changed from a pay monthly to a PAYG" - this process takes 30days from when notice is given, and at the expiry of that 30days, you have a new PAYG SIM, the history of it is irrelevant.
That new PAYG SIM needs to be activated on EE's UK network before roaming is auto-enabled for use abroad. Your symptoms are consistent with this not having been done.
Putting aside your history on pay-monthy, it's immaterial. Did you use your new PAYG SIM in the UK between it ceasing to be a pay-monthly SIM, and you travelling abroad?

But not as PAYG. You said yourself you've just moved it from contract to PAYG. So all earlier advice that it first needs activating in UK still holds and it won't work until you do!
