Hey, I have traveled to Nigeria for Christmas. I've got my sim card in a spare phone but there is no service on my phone. This means I cannot receive any one-time passwords for my banking and other essential apps.
Nor can I call the contact number on the EE website to fix this issue.
I don't want to make any calls or texts while I'm here but I want to be able to receive them when necessary.
 
Is there anything I can do to unlock my sim card so I can receive OTP? FYI I know this is possible because my sister, who is with me on this trip, has an EE sim card and is able to receive calls and texts from abroad.

Anything to do with data roaming switched off?

My roaming is on but I still have this issue 😞

Did you activate roaming before you left the UK?

If not you'll need to speak to EE CS to activate roaming.

Are you on PAYG or pay-monthly?

If on PAYG - did you use the phone in the UK before travelling abroad? That would ensure the roaming facility was enabled.

If on pay-monthly - did you enable roaming before travelling abroad?

Without roaming being active, your phone will not be able to connect to foreign networks.

I didn't before I traveled this time around because I didn't think I'd be able to get a plan to use in Nigeria but I have in the past when I've traveled to Europe.

I cannot contact Customer care because I do not have service to ring the number. Do you know if there's other way to contact them?

When you say spare phone - is the phone locked to a specific company and that needs unlocking ?

I have a sim-only contract which I pay monthly via direct debit.

DO you know if there's a way i can get CC to switch my roaming on without calling them?

It's a spare phone that is unlocked.
