Mifi roaming

We have a mifi with an ee payg data sim purchased in summer/autumn 2020 & are going to France soon, for the first time since then. If I look at the information on the ee website it says I have to text them before I go & purchase special data when I get there BUT if I look at buying my next addon in the usual way, it says that it's valid for roaming. I've seen elsewhere that ee hasn't brought in roaming charges for data sims yet.

Can anyone please confirm that my next data purchase will be OK for France, please? (I'm probably going to buy more than usual!). Do I need to text ee in addition to turning on roaming on my mifi? Are there any restrictions on use?

Thanks

You don't need to text EE before going abroad. That's only for contracts.

As it is part of EU, you may use your usual UK allowances there with up to 25 GB data per billing month if you have more.

The need for add-ons or paying a £2/day charge in the EU is only for contracts. It does not apply to PAYG. As yet EE haven't introduced any charges for PAYG users to use their UK allowances in the EU. EE has not yet announced if & when they may start. So you may continue to use your pack allowances in EU as before w/out charge.

You say you purchased this PAYG SIM in 2020, but when did you last use it for a chargeable action?

Thanks. We use the mifi when we're out & about in our motorhome, all in the UK for the last couple of years - we've had several 90day packages since we bought it, the last use being earlier this month. The last one has just expired.

Hi @CG21

If the SIM card is active as @XRaySpeX has posted, you can use up to 25GB of your data allowance in the EU.

Have a lovely time 🙂

Leanne.

Thanks!
