Internation dial tone when In UK

I’ve had two calls recently where the caller has advised they’ve had an international dial tone when calling me, making it look like I’m abroad.

I’ve been at home on both occasions connected to WiFi calling.

Any idea why this is happening?

When people are ringing me they are informing me it is an international ring tone.

I am not abroad.
Have not been abroad recently.

I have tried resetting my phone and it is still happening.

When I ring out it is a normal ring tone.

I have rang EE & the lady who I spoke to said she do not know what I meant and did not know what I meant by an international ring tone.

Can you advise why this is happening @techsupport

???

thanks

Hi @Si_Brownley

Have you spoken to our Technical Support team? They should be able to help you with this.

Chris

Yes

Hi

Can you help me with this please

The ring tone has changed for me, might just be subtle change but it doesn't stop me from calling people.

Global harmonisation?

Wow.  My daughter works as at a school . When she called a absent pupils parent to update them in the latest killer virus she too said that both Mum and Dad's phone had the 'on holiday 'ring .  This can actually cause a lot of problems for people . My daughter hoped they were having a lovely Christmas break.

Another member of staff would  have reported this .  Parents & carers can go to prison   . Court and a big fine at the very least  . It is my only recorded crime  🥰  . 😫My daughter was always truanting. 💩

Hi @Emsmoro and @DurbanboyUK.

I suggest speaking to our technical support team so that they can refresh your account. This sometimes helps fix this problem. If it doesn't they'll be able to investigate and escalate further.

Chris

Agreed - frustrating, the technical team resetting your carrier / network settings doesn’t work either.

Strange how EE aren’t fixing this as a matter or urgency

I was with Plusnet recently (part of BT) as are EE. Plusnet are closing down. Plusnet swapped me to EE on the same plan. Since joining EE there's no live customer service and nearly all my calls out have the international dialing tone and most then drop. I live in Camden in London, I've not been abroad and EE are now poor. I went to EE stores and staff don't know why. I went to a 'super' EE store in the Westfield centre which was meant to be tech savvy hub  no clue. My sim has been replaced twice, phone reset too. I'm not using WiFi calling either, that's turned off. I know that Plusnet used the EE network and that EE also sells its network to other branded names like 1p mobile (which sells the same 'product' I'm paying for at 50% cheaper) and Leyca Mobile, Talk Home Mobile, IQ Mobile, CO-OP Mobile, (https://www.simsherpa.com/networks/ee/virtual-providers-on-ee?accept-cookies). I think I've been swapped from a fully functioning Plusnet package to something that all the cheaper providers use on EE's network, but EE have started to do this too. My point is I wasn't told of these problems before joining EE. A friend of mine used to work at the Orange / EE Head Office in the Paddington Basin in London on the main board and said "EE don't care, they churn through customers". Staff at the 'coal face' and it looks like EE helpers here aren't aware of these changes, now you all know. I'll be moving on to another provider.
