Given a mobile number belonging to someone else

Hi there,

a few days ago I requested a new telephone number after having the same one for many years.

I was kindly given a new one by EE - only to find out it currently belongs to another woman who purchased it from the internet a long time ago.

I am getting consistent calls, texts and whatsapp's from her contacts and she is really confused about the whole situation.

I would really appreciate if you could help me as soon as possible, I may need to be given a brand new number, ideally one that's never been used if that's possible?

I have been getting calls all day today from alien numbers.

I look forward to hearing your ideas on how we can resolve this,

kind regards,

Harriet

I very much doubt the number you've been issued, has already been issued to someone else. If you call "your" number, does your phone ring? If so, then by implication it's not ringing on anyone else's phone.

All mobile networks do recycle disconnected numbers after a period of time, due to there not being an endless supply. But this time is extremely lengthy, by design.

If you ask one of these callers what number they are trying to contact, is it one that's close to yours but different by one or two digits?

If you wish to have another new number, you will need to call EE C/S and request this.
