Charged for picture messages-it's costing me 83p a time,please help

Good Morning

Is there a quick/easy way to stop these charges? I called into EE and they said just use WhatsApp and I won't be charged.The charges seem to be a cluster.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

@Morrisminor1955 : Only by not sending Picture Msgs (MMS) incl. stop inserting emoticons in your text see - Text messages converted to photo messages? . Yes, using WhatsApp or similar data messaging system would be a good start.
