Cannot use sim card in China

Hi everyone,

Currently, I am in China. The first time when I arrived in China, it still could be used. But this time, when I closed the flight mode, I got some signal but I couldn't receive any messages or calls,  and after 5 mins, my SIM card did not have any signal anymore :((

Are the symptoms identical when you manually select each available Chinese network?

Are you on pay-monthly or PAYG?

I got CHN-UNICOM and CHINA TELECOM two options, the first one did not have any signal, and the second got a little bit of signal but then disappeared. :(((

I got a 2 yrs-deal which is pay-monthly.

Did you receive a welcome text message when you first arrived in China? That, and the SIM working abroad previously - would be good evidence of roaming being active.

Coverage problems downstream of that are usually local network issues in your host country which are often resolved by toggling flight mode or manually selecting alternative operators.
