Can anyone help. I recently received my 5g standalone SIM but when I put it in the phone I get an error message stating there is no provision for that SIM. Am I doing something stupid?

There should be instructions within the package on how to activate it if your current SIM is still working.

The steps are also shown here: https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/getting-started/sim/set-up-my-new-sim

@L00weeze , is this a replacement SIM card and where did you acquire the SIM card from?

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using web based app or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

It was sent from EE. I got a text message saying I was entitled to the SIM and would benefit from it. It came in all the EE packaging but I cant get my phone to accept it. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if I need to do something to activate it.
