terrible signal in Mayfair London

Since the beginning of last week (when the heatwave hit) all of a sudden there's hardly any signal anymore when I'm at work in Mayfair. Sometimes it's two bars 4G at the most, at other times it's only one bar or it goes down to 3G. Calls often don't come through and browsing the internet doesn't work. It's the same problem whether I'm inside or outside. This has never been the case before. And my colleagues who are on EE also have the same problem.

If I walk several blocks for example over to Soho I do get proper signal again. I don't know if some equipment broke in the area, but it's very frustrating as I basically can't use my phone at work anymore at all. And as it's not only myself, it can't be my phone but must be the network.

Hi @drod101,

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

Does the Network Status Checker show any problems in your area?

James

Hi James

no it doesn't. It says I should have excellent signal inside and outside on 4G. I checked a few days ago and again today.

It' really quite weird. I just went to my gym at Piccadilly Circus and around there I do have excellent reception but walking back to work which is between Regent Street and New Bond Street it drops at some point and stays bad.

Thanks

Dennis

Hi @drod101,

If the 'Check status' option isn't showing any known issues, please tap 'Report a problem' so our network team can look into to it for you.

You'll receive updates via text.

James

sorry but I can't find the "Report a problem" button. Can you please tell me where it is.

Hi @drod101,

After entering your postcode and selecting the 'Check status' option on the Network Status Checker, you'll see a 'report a problem' button below the current status information.

Hope this helps.

I’m having the same exact issue in Mayfair - same story for my coworkers. It’s becoming unusable. I checked the status a couple days ago and it said something was reported and engineers were looking into it, and later it said it was resolved (but it clearly hasn’t been). I raised another ticket yesterday… but there’s clearly a very big, new, ongoing issue with coverage in Mayfair

Thanks for reporting it again @DoverSt1, you should receive another update soon.

I should add that my colleagues on other networks have no problems - so we can count out any “environmental” issue

I got this message for my ticket but the signal is not any better… “Network update: We could not find a problem in W1x xxx. This may have been a one off and we therefore recommend you restart your device. If you are still having problems, please call us on 150. Your Report ID is 3940134.”
