i have an iphone 7 and have lost carrier settings after being abroad. mobile data section is now saying an update is required before mobile data can be used. I have downloaded update 15.7 to my phone using wifi however this wont install on the phone as it says it needs to be connected to the internet before it will install despite already being connected to the wifi. even plugged into a pc and trying to manually install is providing an error. as such i cant download the update. i have tried multiple solutions recommended online however nothing is working. any ideas?

@Eldreamo76 Did you use a foreign Sim card within device when you was abroad? Have you tried a network reset on it ?

@Eldreamo76 the IOS update to 15.7 has nothing todo with this issue and installing it isn’t the fix this update is from Apple and is a security update for the device.
This is apples wording for 15.7
15.7 patches 11 vulnerabilities, the most serious of which is CVE-2022-32917. This vulnerability is in the iOS Kernel, potentially allowing an attacker to execute malicious code on iPhones and iPads.
iOS 15.7 also fixes two additional vulnerabilities in Kernel, two in WebKit (the engine behind Safari) and flaws in Contacts, Maps, MediaLibrary and Shortcuts. iOS 16 contains the same fixes but it does not support the iPhone SE (first gen), iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus and iPod touch.
Can you back up the device and try a factory reset on the device.
are you a PAYG customer? If you are when did you last use this device if it was over 3 months ago then the sim has gone in to hibernation and you need to call customer services to get it reactivated. But if it’s gone over 6 month since you last use it you’ll need a new SIM card.
please read THIS about sim hibernation.

Where are you travelling to? EU or outwith? Has it ever worked before, prior to this update? Have you upgraded your handset/changed your plan recently?
