WhatsApp "calls" are not handled by your phone or EE's mobile network as calls, but as data traffic. Any specific issues with WhatsApp are best directed at WhatsApp themselves.
You can check your phone's speaker & microphone are working by making standard voice calls and/or using sound recording/video apps.
You can check your data connection by using other internet-based functions on your phone.
