Using another SIM when in Australia

Hi

I'm currently in Australia and have bought a SIM locally for my EE Samsung.  The phone refuses to see it - the phone is unlocked so I don't know why it won't work - any suggestions?

Is the device in contract?

Did you request an unlock of the device? if yes, when?

Thanks for the response. Yes the device is in contract  (pay monthly). I requested an unlock yesterday but it told me the phone was already unlocked

Are you able to try a different SIM card to see if this works in the phone?

my existing Uk SIM works fine in the phone ( if very expensively here in Australia) but when replaced with a local SIM the phone can't see it. | have tried the new SIM both  with and without the existing SIM but no luck either way.

When you were advised the phone is already unlocked was this via the Unlock an EE Device webform?
