Service in Castlebay, Barra

The bandwidth of the transmitter site near Castlebay, Barra is exceeded. Only in the early morning, when few users are awake can some internet service be obtained. During the day it is so slow that most sites fail due to delay. Other networks don't have this trouble, only EE.

Hey

we tried that last night and my wife’s sim works in my phone and my own doesn’t work in hers.

my phone still works in Northbay and west side, any ideas why it would stop working on Monday night in Castlebay and east side of the island?

Does your phone, or that of your wife, show "VoLTE" (for Android) or "4G-call" (iOS) next to your signal bars?

Yeah both have 4g beside it and full signal

I asked about 4G-calling/VoLTE specifically, not 4G in general.

I have a theory what might be happening here, and the answer to this (for both phones) will prove or disprove.

I’m not to sure what you mean, they both just have 4g beside the signal bars.

wgats your theory as I’m open to any suggestions as I need my phone for work and outside of Wi-Fi most days

Some phones differ as to how VoLTE is displayed, but does the phone that is working still show 4G when on a call? And how about the phone that's not working?

Some of the sites on Barra are equipped with EE's extended-range 800Mhz service, but this relies on 4G-calling to work whereas other 4G-bands such as 1800Mhz don't have this issue.

It's possible a VoLTE-issue could be at play here.

Thanks for the replies but it decided to work again today, don’t ask me why but it’s working all over Barra again.
