Pixel phones - 5G SA yes or no?

Hello.

Posted something similar yesterday on here and noticed there's a lot of people like me in the same situation. There is zero information on 5G SA on the EE website and neither tech or customer support have been sufficiently informed about, you know, fairly important things like what devices work and what settings you need to change, if any, We know you have to be on a specific plan, that is the only clear and obvious piece of information given to us,

I know there was a helpful post previously on this from a forum poster back in September but could we please have *official* confirmation as of December 2024 of what phones work, what phones are next in the lineup to be added and just generally what settings - if any- need to be changed to receive 5G SA. There are stil people posting today/recently that insist you have to change your sim/esim after having called tech support which, I'm informed, is absolute nonsense.

Please EE, can you clear this up.

Thanks

Hi @keke74

You don't need to change any settings you just need the applicable network plan.

Not sure what you are expecting as all the service means that it is true 5G network, the reality is you/99% of people will see little if any difference to day to day use unless you are someone who is regularly checking speed test. It just improves EE network reach.

Thanks

Realistically, the only scenario where 5G-SA will improve network coverage is if NR700 is deployed on a particular network site without L800.

This rarely happens in practice, the rigging setup is often shared, and would cause complications in NSA setup.

Sure thanks. For me though that is not the point, I have paid for a service which I cannot get and nobody at EE seems to be able to help

What tariff are you on.

Which Pixel phone do you own.

Thanks

Hi @keke74

The Google Pixel 8 Pro isn't a phone that is currently supported for 5G SA. You can see the current 5G SA supported devices, locations and plan requirements on https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Community-Stars/5G-SA-handsets/m-p/1481221#M24095

Thanks - I can't access but is that the post from September?

I wonder when EE will officially inform customers regarding what devices are supported? Like an product page or FAQ at least. Pretty simple.  And also get their story straight? *Every* tech agent I spoke to said my phone supported 5G SA on EE.

It appears that the "December Pixel Drop" update released yesterday has enabled 5G SA for EE on my Pixel 9 Pro XL.
