No data connection whilst in Bristol 16th to 18th May 2023

I recently visited Bristol from Edinburgh.  I soon as I arrived my phone would not connect to data.  Tried switching it off, toggling sim card on and off etc and for three days no data connection, phone said "temporarily unavailable".  Relied on Wifi the whole visit.  As soon as I got off the train back in Edinburgh my phone connected and has been fine ever since. Called EE and was told that there had been problems with signal, masts etc in the whole Bristol area.  She checked various post codes of where I'd been and confirmed that there had been problems in those areas.  Hmmmm.  It seems strangely coincidental that all the masts I was near were broken for the particular two days I was there.  Would a whole city be out of connection like that? Has anyone had an experience like this ever?  I am concerned as I have a lot of travel coming up and need my phone to work.  Any information to help, please share. Thank you.

Hi there @KayB5

Thanks for coming here.

You can view any outages or reported problems for the area you are in on the EE Coverage and Network Status Checker, if you select 'check status'.

If the data is working in Edinburgh, this would indicate an issue in the area you were previously, did you try restarting the phone when you were in Bristol?

If there were issues of this magnitude covering a major city, then this forum would be flooded with complaints and it may even make the national news.

I live close to Bristol, and haven't had any issues of this type. I suspect a well-meaning CS agent here, has given advice that is not wholly accurate.
