I live in Cardiff, my new iPhone is 5g compatible and is linked to 5g most of time but reception is very poor and I’m missing phone calls. I never had this problem with Vodafone and switched to EE thinking it would be just as good but so far it’s disappointing

Hi @Jhri
Welcome to the community.
What does our coverage checker estimate the coverage should be like in your area? It may be worth checking the status too, it will let you know whether we're aware of any problems with the network in your area.

@Jhri Have you tried using Wi-Fi calling ? because this is the situation it’s designed for.

Cardiff's a major city, and all networks will have good and bad areas - for every location where EE is poor indoors, there'll be other areas where the opposite is the case. As mentioned already, WiFi-calling is an excellent mitigation for any location where indoor coverage is lacking for whatever reason.
Calls made over EE's 4G network & WiFi-calling will handover seamlessly between the two technologies.
