Google Pixel 6a phone line issues

Hi there, 

Wondering if anyone here has had issues with their Google Pixel 6a? Since receiving the phone, whenever I'm speaking on the phone the person on the other end reports various sound issues - sometimes an echo, sometimes just 'a very bad line', and sometimes simply a really loud awful sound! It's making the phone unusable for calls.

Previously I had a Pixel 4XL and never had any issues so wondering if this is a problem with the phone itself, something 5G related (although I have tried turning off 5G and it didn't help), or an EE/Pixel 6a compatibility issue. I've tested coverage in the area and it's always good-excellent.

Hi @kate148.

Does your SIM still work in your old phone without issue?

If it does, it would suggest an issue with the new phone.

I traded in my old phone but it's the same SIM and it worked fine in the old phone, no issues at all.

Thanks for getting back to us. 

I would recommend giving our technical care team a call on either 150 from an EE handset or 0800 079 8586 from any landline or provider. 

The team will be able to complete a full diagnostic.

Hi @kate148 , I've got the same problem with my Pixel 6a, I've now returned two handsets and am waiting for a third. Did EE or Google manage to provide a fix in the end?

I'm sorry to hear you're having the same issue with your Pixel 6a. 

Unfortunately EE didn't provide a fix. In fact the phone cut off when I was speaking to them and they never called back! The issue doesn't seem as bad as it was but I still regularly get an echo on both ends. I never contacted Google about it.

@Leanne_T - thanks for your reply. I wasn't offered a new SIM card as a possible solution. Perhaps that would work!

@Leanne_T  I haven't tried a new SIM yet although that was one of the things the EE technical support person said we could try as a next step. However the SIM works perfectly in my old phone (LG G6)

I'd recommend giving it a try @bailo, just to rule it out.
