I am trying to phone a friend in Ireland. I live in Wales. Why won't my phone connect?

Is this problem specific to your friend in Ireland - i.e. can you make & receive calls to other numbers? Does your phone show coverage indicators or a WiFi-calling indicator?

Can you send & receive text messages?
