5g+ on pixel 10a

Hi.

I recently bought a pixel 10a directly from EE and paid outright, 27 years loyal service. My SIM only plan is Smart SIM 100gb including a swappable freebie, my previous pixel 8a was not 5g+ compatible but the 10a is, I called EE CS last week to query if they could activate 5g+ for me? The lady explained my SIM would need upgrading and then it will be 5g+ on my phone, so I registered it online to activate it although she said that wouldn't be necessary as it's pre linked to my account and number but she was wrong and I had to register the new SIM card, okay but it still hasn't activated 5g+ I've looked at the *#*# dial code and NR SA is not an option and in ABOUT PHONE -SIM DETAILS it states 4g voice calls which is same info as previous 5g SIM, I called back to CS and another lady stated EE can't physically turn on 5g+ from their end as it depends on phone capabilities but she agreed pixel 10a is on their list of approved handsets but couldn't help me any further, truthfully I feel I was lied to by CS and left hanging for any future rollouts to multiple customers if their phones meet the tech requirements, I mean why on earth did I need to even replace the old 5g SIM which shows exactly the same network connection as the SIM Upgraded? They never disputed my monthly plan is not eligible and agreed as the new phone was from EE I should qualify anyway, my question was if it can't be switched on by EE at present how can it be switched on if I upgrade to Full Works especially if it's on same pixel 10a? So obviously they can and do tick certain boxes on accounts, also unbelievabley since replacement SIM arrived it now states on app and online I'm not eligible for any upgrade, SIM plan or handset, it's like they've messed up my account details! I can live with no 5g+ but I was led to believe I will have it after new SIM arrives. Wrong and confusing information is not only annoying but misleading too. Any thoughts?

Hi @onetoone

We want to give all our customers an excellent service but if you feel your situation hasn't been handled the way you had hoped we want you to know how we can fix it. Please visit our Complaints code of practice page for details about our handling process.

I'd recommend giving customer service a call on 150 to discuss the option of moving onto a new plan which includes 5G+ access.

Hi.

Smart SIM 100gb.

My postcode has excellent coverage according to their coverage checker yes I get it that it only kicks in now and then same as Fast Lane but it will never connect to NRSA because EE haven't included it to my plan account so basically I was misinformed, it's the principle and being given wrong advice is very poor!

Yes indeed you are correct, Smart Plans do not include 5G SA/5G+.

It was not an option from when your plan originated, hence not included in your existing plan.

All Rounder SIM Only plans (the new equivalent of a Smart Plan) and Full Works SIM Only plans include 5G+ Access.

And yet 2 CS agents never confirmed that just led me down a new SIM needed to ACTIVATE it Rabbit Hole knowing full well I'm on a smart plan, it's not good enough misleading a 27yrs loyal customer from Orange, One to One T mobile days and now EE.

So basically get over it and just upgrade then... You'll see from my original post EE  online and app are not allowing any upgrade options which is ridiculous as before new SIM arrived upgrade was an option and constantly encouraged in app and online so no I'm not jumping through hoops again getting hold of CS and explaining my upgrade options have disappeared only to be told "that's strange.... You're certainly eligible for upgrading but don't know why it says you can't?" I want to be able to choose several  upgrade options at my own leisure on my EE bought phone but because of EE my account gremlins I'm not able to and no one at EE knows why...Man on the moon and all that! 🤦🏻‍

Hi @onetoone

I'm sorry we have no account access on the community to help you get the upgrade sorted. You would need to call us to get your EE app and online account looked into to see why this is not showing the upgrade options. If needed our tech guides can open a support ticket, which will be investigated by the relevant support teams and you will be kept updated. If this is not resolved on the call, or you remain unappy with the experience you've had, you can request to open a complaint and our executive care team would get in touch with you.

Hi.

Yes please open a tech support ticket as I'm checking app and online daily and not allowed to view upgrade options as constantly saying Not Eligible and CS on phone couldn't fix, so let's hope someone in tech dept can fix the gremlin.
