Using a data pack in Europe

Hi there,

I am trying to use a pay as go data pack in Europe. I have used the same data pack in the UK and it worked well, but now I am traveling through Europe it has become impossibly slow to such an extent that I am thinking of abandoning EE and getting a local SIM. I spoke to an EE representative before I left the UK and I was told that there is no extra charge for using a data pack in the EU with data romming. I use the data SIM with a wifi system I have on my campervan. I also have phone with me that uses Smarty. This also does not charge for data romming and the data is no slower than it is in the UK. Data romming have been enabled on both. I hope someone can help. Many thanks.

Hello @wrenijenn ,

Welcome to the community,

Not sure why you are having these problems, as there should be no difference where you are in Europe. Have you done a search for a different network to see if that improves it? Which countries have you had problems with data?

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using Skype or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

Hi there, So far I have visited Holland, Germany, and Sweden - where I am expecting to be for a few weeks. I didn't know that you could search for different networks. I thought it would be fixed, since it would be an agreed partner with EE. But would this be the problem in three different countries? It seems a coincidence that I have had this problem in three successive countries in the space of 10 days. I will try the search for a different provider today. Thanks for your suggestion. I will let you know how I get on.

Hi there,

Thanks for your suggestion of looking for an alternative provider. It appears to have worked.  Many thanks for all your help.

@wrenijenn , thank you for coming back and letting me know, glad my suggestion worked, enjoy the rest of your stay in Europe, you are very welcome.
