Texting and calls from Italy

Hi, I text ROAMING to 150 and now I’m all set up to use phone in Italy. Just like to check that to make calls and text to UK do I have to have to have mobile data, data roaming ‘on’ or can I keep them turned ‘off’. This may be a basic question, but I’m getting on a bit, thank you.

Calls & texts do not use data. You don't need any data settings set on your phone.

You may use your usual UK allowances in the EU with up to 50 GB (contract) or 25 GB (PAYG) data per billing month if you have more. If on contract & your contract started after 07/07/2021 there'll be a £2.47 / day charge for using your UK allowances in EU or alternatively you may buy the Roam Abroad Pass for £25 / billing month.

You only need to enable mobile data & data roaming if you want to use internet-based functions on your phone whilst roaming.

Voice calls & text messages are not internet-based.
