Yesterday I offered to take an American friend on a walk around London via WhatsApp video. It totally failed.
No Wi-Fi was the message. But I could call her. So audio was working. Why didn't video work? It is a brand new physical UK SIM card from EE. Very disappointed.

@LondonGuest In the settings of WhatsApp, have you got it all allowed to use Wi-Fi and cellular ? From your description, you’ve got it set to use only Wi-Fi that’s why you got a “ no Wi-Fi message”. It’s an app setting not a network issue
