I am trying to gift data to my sons phone, which I do every month. However, it is saying I can't do it and that he has unlimited data. This is not correct (only has 250mb on his plan). How do resolve this issue?

Out of interest, are you using the website or mobile app?
Refreshing around the tabs and/or reloading the app, often resolves issues with the latter.
