I’m not sure that’s the case.

ROI is included in the EU Zone and so it depends on when you last upgraded/got your contract. Or if you have the roam abroad pass etc.

If you upgraded or got a new contract after July 2021, and don’t have the smart benefit or pass, then it costs £2,00 a day to use your phone in ROI.

@Josephrudd2020 : Not according to Changes for EE customers roaming in the EU . RoI is an exception:

I am travelling to Republic of Ireland or live near the border. Will I have to pay £2 a day if I connect to the ROI network?

Customers using their phone in Republic of Ireland are unaffected and won't have to pay the £2 charge.

@XRaySpeX   EE really need to sort that out on THIS as it’s still saying you need the pass or pay the £2 per day.     But you are correct there is no charge in RO Ireland.

@Chris_B : I understand the RoI Roaming Costs page only recently changed from no extra cost to £2 a day - see UK to Ireland calls and texts (included in allowance or not?)
