I bought an 8g data plan but I’m not getting connected

Does your phone show network coverage? Can you make & receive calls? Are you in the UK or abroad? Is mobile data enabled on your phone? Have you been able to use mobile data in the past?

First time using data on this phone in the uk,iPhone shows signal but only able to text 150 no I message. Data Is on in control center

"First time using this phone" implies that you're an existing EE user who's upgraded from a previous phone, is that right? And if so - are you using the same SIM as was (presumably) working in your old phone?

The more detail you can give, the easier it is for others to help/advise. There's no limit on the length of replies.

I have had data on as part of someone else’s contract on a different phone. Now I have a new sim on a new phone that came empty giving my new number

Yes it under my name and was not part of any previous deal.

@Ned7 Just to clarify as you mentioned specifically iMessage not working, it is not just iMessage but all data that is not working, so you cannot load BBC - Home for example is that right? 

If calls and texts are working ok and it is just all data that is not working, there are a few things to check. If you are a contract customer first login to your EE app and select Manage> Settings and make sure Use mobile data is enabled here which will confirm there is no block network side.

On your phone go into Settings> Mobile data and make sure the apps you are wanting to use are enabled for mobile data. 

Check you have no VPN or configuration profile active in Settings> General> VPN and device management

Also if you have not already done it since the issue started, try giving the phone a restart.
