Data Disappeared: Returns sometimes when I switch airplane mode on & off

I recently got a new upgrade and now I am getting an error message 'No Sim Available'. My data is gone. Sometimes, if I switch airplane mode on and off the data comes back but then it disappears again.  What is the issue?

@KP54  Try clearing the sim and you might need to request a replacement SIM card. 

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Could you try gently cleaning the SIM card, I believe this is the advice from @Chris_B

Are you able to try the SIM in another phone to see if the same happens?
