I have a paygo sim that I have used in a 2G modem successfully for several years without issue. Recently its stopped working and in an attempt to diagnose the problem, I've put the sim in a phone and discovered that data will only work on 4G. When I change the phone settings to either 2G or 3G there is no data connection but voice is works fine. I spoke with EE recently and they have sent me a replacement sim but it's no different. I'm running out of ideas and wondering if anyone can help.

Good morning @Lofty681.
Thanks for coming to the community.
3G is still available so this should not be an issue.
Are you aware if there is any issues within your area?
You can check this by using our Network Status Checker.

Thanks for the reply.
I know that both 2G & 3G are avaliable in my area because I have other EE sim's running fine.
I have tried changing the phone and have a new sim but I can only connect to data on 4G only. I have diagnosed this issue to the point that I'm pretty sure the problem lies with how the sim or number is configured on the network. Is this possible and if so, how can I find a solution?

Are you able to try another known working SIM in this modem, as a belts&braces check?
3G data will see some changes this year, but 2G data should still be fine.

I have another sim working in the modem as we speak so I can't lay blame with the modem. I can't blame the sim because I have a new sim on the same number that has the exact same problem.
The one thing left of concern is that the sim is on an old tariff that isn't avaliable any longer. The credit ran out for a week over Christmas and although I can't prove this, I have a suspicion that it's not worked correctly since. Obviously, I've topped up and have credit and can make and receive voice calls and have 4G data but not 2G or 3G.
