The quick start guide for the 4Gee Wifi Mini says ... "If you intend to use your 4GEE WiFi Mini whilst connected to your charger for more than 7 days, then, it is advisable that you remove the battery to avoid any potential demage."
I want to do just that, and avoid the battery overheating.
But when I remove the battery and plug it into the charger, I can't connect to the wifi. The device disappears from the list of available networks. All lights on the device are lit.

I see the SSID of the 4GEE WiFi Mini with battery removed.
What are you using as the charger? Is it the USB connected to a PC, which makes a quasi-Ethernet connection?

No, not plugged into a computer. The cable is plugged into a USB socket running from a 12V system on a caravan.

Did you ever get an answer to this? I’m also having the same issue

I’ve been using a EE mifi mini router for the last year now without problem. Battery is removed, and with USB plugged in, running off the caravan’s 12v system. Works well. Sometimes takes a few minutes to find the WiFi.
Only downside is, for the USB sockets to be live, I need to leave the master switch of the caravan elecs switched on. This draws a surprising amount of the 12v battery, or at least much more than the router would otherwise draw on its own. A roof solar panel keeps it topped up, but ideally it needs a direct feed from the 12v battery so the master can be switched off.
