Can EE levy charges for roaming fees on a child’s mobile device without the consent from the account holder?
previously they had child’s number listed as the lead number on the account. It took many calls attempting to correct it, loads of time wasted to get changed, only recently to remain as the correct account holder’s number.
Despite my account and number being with them since days of Orange. I requested the new number be added and noted as a child’s phone with no account access or authority. This allowed ability to access information change settings, services and parental controls etc etc.
It seems once account info corrected EE permitted account orders from the phone without any communication or confirmation from the account holder.
that doesn’t seem right, I question if it’s possible legal to accept what is essentially a contractual agreement with a child?

Hi @TF366
Thanks for coming to the community.
If a contract phone is going to be used by a child, there are ways to limit and stop charges outside the plan allowance, but it is not automatically set up, it is the responsibility of the account holder to set this up if the phone is being passed on.
Firstly there is a spend cap, which if it is set to £0, would stop roaming charges. You can see how to set up a spend cap, and what charges would and would not be covered by this on our Set up and manage Spend Cap page.
You can also restrict Charge to Bill, which is a way to pay for content such as apps, music, games and more on the mobile bill, as well as short code text services. These can be blocked by texting BAR to 150 from that phone.

@TF366 : Yes, EE never sold the phone to a child; they sold it to you. You gave consent anyway by giving the phone to a child & letting them take the phone abroad.
