Hello so I need to order a ee portable WiFi router the ones where u can put a SIM card in and connect to it as we’re going away somewhere with no WiFi. However, where we are going doesn’t support ee so I was just wondering if I order it will any SIM card go in this device or would it have to be an ee sim? The device is called generic 300mps 4g portable mifi hotspot EE for anyone wondering or willing to hope someone gets back to me as need to order it today thank you in advance

@lj96091 : Where are you going?

All new devices sold nowadays are sold unlocked. You should be able to use any network SIM. Are you buying it as new?

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

I’m going near Blackpool end and when I look on the cell checker ee isn’t the best and Tesco who I’m with isn’t on there at all so I assume it’s not supported otherwise I would use my data. And okay thank you I was just curious as probably won’t buy it brand new from ee if it’s only used for a few days will most likely go to cex or a place like that so I’m hoping that model will support the sim I might have to try and ring

I see such a device advertised on CeX. I understand they sell 2nd-hand kit. Depending on how old it is it may well be locked to EE.
