Patchy coverage 4gee router

Hi there,

I recently moved to York city centre and got a 4gee router because wired connections in my area are so slow. At first, this seemed a perfect fix, I was seeing download speeds of 40mbps and upload speeds of around 25mbps.

However, I've noticed that my speeds spike dramatically throughout the day, which makes working from home nigh on impossible (crashing out of zoom calls, or having severe audio/video delays).  Testing this morning my speeds dropped as low as 1mbps download and upload.

I called EE and they said they had reset my SIM "it was a mast issue" and it should now work fine. The issue is still persisting. The advice was to reset my router if this happens again, but this is impractical as I can't ask people to wait in a video call whilst I reset my internet...

Would enormously appreciate any advice to stabilise my connection.  When it works its brilliant, but it's just too patchy right now to be usable.

I've looked through the settings but to be honest have no idea what to change. Side note, are the antennas worth it?

Cheers

Hi there @Juicebox173

Thanks for coming here 🙂

Do you have other devices connected to the router?

If so, do they have they disconnect?

Do we have any signal issues showing on the EE Coverage & Network Status Checker, for your area?

Thanks.

Leanne.

Hey Leanne,

Thanks for your reply! 🙂  I have two mobile phones connected to the router but they work fine.

When my speed drops, I still remain connected to the internet on all devices, just my speeds crash to really slow speeds, e.g. 1mbps.

According to the coverage checker I should get excellent coverage & there's no issues with the network in my area.

Thank you 🙂

Tom

Thanks for coming back to me @Juicebox173

In this case, I would suggest giving us another call on 150 or 0800 079 8586 and the team will get this looked into further for you.

Hi @Leanne_T , thanks for your reply. I called 4 times last week but unfortunately wasn't helped very much. I've just been told there is a possible mast issue, despite there being no reports of this online. I haven't been given any timeline for a fix.

My home router is getting speeds of 1-3mbps, whereas my phone (also on EE) is consistently reaching 15+mbps...
