Mobile Broadband Speeds Dropping

Hi All,

I’ve had the EE mobile broadband for about a year now and until now the speeds have been very good. Average download speeds of 130-160 MB and upload speeds of 30-40 MB. I have the EE 4G/5G Smart Router.

Over the last few days the speeds have completely dropped. Download speeds are varying significantly, one minute they’re 5MB and the next 80-90MB. Upload speeds are now non existent. 0.5-1 MB. Surfing the internet is slow and laggy.

Ive checked the coverage checker and the service says it’s running as normal. I’m fairly competent when it comes to routers so I’ve done the usual checks and nothing seems out of the ordinary. Restarted several times with no luck.

I’m now out of ideas so thought I would reach out and see if anyone else has this problem or knows a solution? Is it likely to be the router that’s faulty or something with the EE network which will eventually sort itself? I’ve raised an issue with EE but as yet no reply.

Thanks

@Andy842 You would be better raising this more in the mobile section of the forum instead of fixed broadband might get more user traction!

The only way to be certain, is to try the router in another location and test your download speeds there. Equally try another EE phone/router in this location and see if it gets the same.

Raising a report on the status checker is the next best thing - those normally take 48hours.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve tried other locations but doesn’t improve speeds. Unfortunately I don’t have another router to try and I don’t intend on buying one to check. I’ve raised a report on the status checker yesterday but as yet no reply.

The router hasn’t been moved for a year as I’ve had no issues. Can speeds suddenly change overnight meaning it needs moving?
