Intermitment 5G Broadband Service

Megawatts17
Visitor

Hello,

I have recently installed an EE 5G router based on the fact that my BT broadband was only delivering 18Kbits / sec download and 1Kbits/sec upload !

I was informed that the 5G EE service in my area ( Bourne End , Bucks ) is "excellent" and that I should see up to 10X performance......sadly this is NOT the case.

Not only has performance remained unchanged the service is intermittent causing many connected devices including heating / cameras and other services to go offline and requiring constant resetting. It is becoming almost inoperable.

Can anyone advise if they have experienced the same issues and what steps you have taken to resolve, I cannot seem to get anywhere.

Yours frustratingly

@Megawatts17 Do you have any other 5G device like a mobile? do you get a good service strength with that, and were do you find that it is strongest. 5G especially in the home is difficult, most place there routers near windows etc, but if you have triple glazing etc then you may have some major issues with signal strength. All you can do is move the router about your home to see if it improves. Use the coverage checker but take it with a pinch of salt, especially for indoor.

Hi @Megawatts17

Welcome to the BT Community

Following what @JimM11 has already suggested about the positioning of your 5GEE Router for optimal signal, you may also want to check the band settings of your 5G router- most fixed devices such as cameras and heating controls prefer to connect using the 2.4Ghz Bandwidth.
