Industrial 4G LTE router won't connect to EE

I have a USR G808 router, it won't connect to EE

https://www.pusr.com/support/downloads/usr-g808-datasheet_V100.html

The SIM works properly in my phone and also in another 4G router. I have tried the standard APN settings, as well as every other combination I can think of. I can see it trying to handshake with EE but failing to connect.

I have tried a Vodafone SIM in it, and that just worked (with the Vodafone APN settings).

I have asked USR technical support how to turn off IPV6, in case this is the problem. I have also asked them how to add MCC and MNC details.  They haven't replied yet.  But this doesn't feel like their issue, it feels like something at EE's end.

I tried calling EE, but was told that they only support their hardware! I thought they were a network, not just a device supplier.

Any ideas or help, are greatly appreciated.

@vwvanmanjs wrote - PAP seems to be the authentication protocol, this router supports numerous communication protocols once the connection has been established. I'm not an expert but thought that the answer may be using the correct option.

I always set to PAP, but try each one (select and ReBoot) after each selection change.

By the Way, you mentioned using a Vodafone Sim and using Voda's APN, when you set the APN for EE did you modify or Edit the Voda APN or Create a Brand New APN Profile and set that New one as the Default Profile?, the later is preferred.

Thanks again @EssexBoyEE

IPV4/6 settings are not obviously available, I've asked the manufacturer about these.

There is also no obvious network signal information.

Yes, it has external antennas, yes the correct antennas are attached to the correct ports.

Thanks again @EssexBoyEE

I used the Vodafone SIM in slot 2 and edited the slot 2 APN settings for Vodafone.

The EE SIM is in slot 1, I have tried numerous settings in slot 1 to try and get the EE connection to work.

I haven't tried the EE SIM in slot 2, I will try that later today.

It only has two APN profiles, one for each SIM slot.

@vwvanmanjs - There is also no obvious network signal information

There should be, look in the Web UI Admin Settings somewhere, absolute worst case there should be LED Indicator Strength, but as said look in the Settings it may be hidden somewhere.

@vwvanmanjs - It only has two APN profiles, one for each SIM slot

You should be able to create a New Profile, Name it differently ie, EE Test or something, then save that as an additional Profile for each Sim Slot.

IPV Settings are normally within each APN Profile.

@EssexBoyEE The only network signal strength information, is a line of LEDs, but these only light up when connected to the network. So they lit up when it was connected to Vodafone, but nothing for EE.

There is also no mention of IPV4 or IPV6 in any of the settings, I have checked every page that I can find. So I have asked the manufacturer about this.

Thanks again for all of your excellent ideas, if I get it to work with EE, I'll post how on here.

To add on the 4G bands point, B3 1800Mhz is EE's base band and is present on the vast majority of sites.

B1 & B7 are used as capacity layers but will always be co-deployed alongside B3.

B20 800Mhz is used as a coverage enhancement and will usually co-exist with B3. In some remote areas, B20 will be the only available layer.

Thank you @bristolian

That's useful to know

@vwvanmanjs - The only network signal strength information, is a line of LEDs, but these only light up when connected to the network. So they lit up when it was connected to Vodafone, but nothing for EE.

That's where you need to start, if you're not getting any signal information on EE, a signal indicator does not necessarily mean a data connection, ie. It is possible to get a signal connection but no internet or data connection, as you're getting neither then I would start first on what's happened to the lack of signal.

Out of interest have you tried this SIM in a phone in the same location, also have you checked the EE coverage within your within the location using EE's online coverage checker
