I purchased mobile broadband and antenna. Catch 22, the engineer can not come out till I get a working sim card. We get internet via phone sim card, data sim card is different, trying to chase it up, but high number of calls and tech help messenger service is turned off.

Somehow I have received an email it appears Three UK are going to put another mast in the glen.

"Three UK have an obligation to deploy electronic communications apparatus in a location which addresses the current total not-spot in the vicinity of *********.  Land has been identified in the forestry area to the north of the ‘******* Estate Parking’ as a potential option for siting apparatus to provide coverage to support the SRN programme.  Please find some important SRN project briefing documentation attached:-"

There is a issue at the mast, neighbours got no phone signal, new sim card issued, still no phone signal. The service I have purchased will not work due to issues at the mast. I do not have the technical knowledge but what is happening to other users in the glen this issue is not being resolved and its not down to people not trying, it's a major issue, probably a resource to benefit equation.  EE help desk very professional, they can not resolve issue, my resolution to this issue is for a full refund which I have asked for by email.

The eNB confirms this is a B20/800Mhz-only site, deployed as part of ESN. I would be very (pleasantly) surprised if other operators follow here anytime soon.

If EE help-desk can't resolve this during your call, the correct process is then to raise a fault case for further investigation - although this may involve some frustration on your part. I admire your persistence in the meantime.

P.S. just as a forum tip, you have a short time after posting to "edit" posts to avoid multiple replies.

"The eNB confirms this is a B20/800Mhz-only site, deployed as part of ESN."

My neighbour without a phone signal told me the mast can operate with 2 other band widths (he was told this), he keeps notes, and that's where the issue is. I realise it's "he said this and I was told this" situation, what's true ? Another persons phone didn't work (different network) then worked and now doesn't work. My EE sim card works in the phone which has the non working EE sim card. This has happened to me before and EE sent out another sim card which worked. I think the engineers could do something on line which made the sim card work but that procedure can cause other issues and is not be done any longer. All this I have observed over the years.

I did raise the issue with EE help desk, the site engineer has to do a site visit to confirm the signal, this is via the company who installs the antennas. The site engineer did make contact, but said no point in visiting till I get a working sim card (he did say he would deal with this issue). Nothing happened, contacted EE help desk, they contacted installers, they contacted me to say site engineer would contact me, site engineer did not contact me, I left message for site engineer, no return call. I am in a loop, till the site engineer says no signal is possible the help desk records says its possible so they can not close the issue.  I have been here before with BT selling me a line broadband, it took 9 months for them to cancel the contract, the engineers knew it was physically impossible but the system said it was possible so the contract could not be canceled.

"I would be very (pleasantly) surprised if other operators follow here anytime soon." It's part of a government package, that's how the 1st mast was installed, very political, "he who shouts the loudest gets the service".

Cheers

There are other EE sites in Glen Etive that have 4G1800 service, that I suspect your friend may be inadvertently confused with. The northern end of the glen nearest Glencoe is covered by 4G800, the southern end has 4G1800 service, but both are reliant on a VoLTE-device/SIM combination due to no 2G fallback.

Both the ESN rollouts (EE-specific) & SRN rollouts (cross-industry) are government-backed with significant overlap.

A resolution has been reached on this issue. Thank you.

As a footnote, some  sim cards work others do not work. Been using cellmapper which shows up the "mast" eNB23177, does not show up the  "pole" even when I stand next to it (notice on gate Cell Reference 75333) on screen at that point  eNB23419:0
