My "internet box" can receive (but not send) SMS texts, with max storage of 100 messages. Yesterday there were 20 messages stored. This morning it said a new message had arrived, but it won't show me it, and all the stored messages have DISAPPEARED. Before I try restoring to original factory settings, I thought I'd see if others have had the problem.

@James_M2 : Have you looked at Drafts. Sometimes incoming SMS are held there. Otherwise if they've gone, they've gone!
Can't see how a Reset is gonna make things any better.
It can send MMS but only in reply to a received MMS.

Although I said that the stored messages have DISAPPEARED, maybe it would be more accurate to say that I just can't see them. There's an "unopened envelope" (i.e New SMS) icon between the WiFi and Battery icons in the Status bar area of my Web user interface. That tells me there's one or more SMS messages which I haven't read. When I login to see it (or them) I'd expect to see something like this example picture from page 26 of the User Guide:
...but with twenty-odd messages rather than just one.
What I actually get is:
Looking at the numbers under the heading: SMS Storage status (Used/Total capacity) it says 0/0.
What? Maximum allowable stored messages suddenly reduced from 100 to zero! Something wrong here, surely. It's impossible to say if the actual messages are still in the device's memory. There seems to have been a corruption of the memory bytes where it holds the numbers of actual messages stored and the maximum permitted. If those bytes could be corrected, perhaps normality would be restored. The best course of action I can think of is to restore the device to its original factory settings so as to get a fresh start. That will mean that any stored messages will definitely disappear, but I will (hopefully) once again be able to see new incoming messages. I'm a little nervous that a reset might make things worse, hence my post to see if others have
You suggest looking in "Drafts". If I could send messages, then I understand that there might be such a location where outgoing texts would be held before transmission. I haven't "looked at Drafts" because I don't know how.
You mention being able to reply to MMS, which is intriguing. I'd invite you to send one to the SIM in my device, but at the moment I don't think I'd be able to see your message!

Yes, it looks like a Reset would at least correct the max. msgs to 100.
Looks like that particular router doesn't have a Drafts box.

Before trying the factory-reset cure, I had tried a soft Restart and powering off-and-on with no change. The reset worked but, as expected, the stored SMS texts were lost which is less than ideal. The one message I never got to see was (probably) the monthly notification from EE that they'll soon take my direct debit payment, but now I'll never know.
I don't think there's anything wrong with the device; it'll be the software/firmware. So, in case anyone at EE monitors these posts/replies, I mention that my Software version is 5G_WiFi_V01.03, but I don't know when that revision was installed, and I have now turned off the option to Allow automatic updates.
