Recently a message has come up on my laptop telling me I need to change my EE 4g mini SSID and password.  Anyone know why?

Hi @jules7316

Welcome to the community.

I'm not sure why that pop up came up. You can change your password by popping this into the browser when you're connected to the 4G router - http://192.168.1.1

The username/password should be "admin"/"admin" or with the admin password found under the battery cover.

I've got the same issue with a 5G router. The problem isn't knowing how to change my SSID and password - it's that I want to be able to opt out of having to do so. I get that security is important and everybody should change their default passwords - but this is just overkill. It happens every couple of months and causes me all sorts of problems every time - not least of which is having to manually change the password on every connected device.

Hi - I’m trying to access the 192.168.1.1 page to update settings of my mobile broadband router, but the page won’t load. Have tried multiple devices. Is there a problem with the page or is there an alternative way to access these admin pages?

thanks

Hi @pjrwe,

Welcome to the EE Community

192.168.1.1 is the correct address for the mobile router admin page on our routers. If you have an older model we used to sell that was manufactured by Huawei the admin page was accessed by 192.168.8.1.

Are any of the devices you are trying connected via an ethernet cable? You can connect to the router admin page when connected to the router on Wi-Fi, but it is worth trying if it works on an ethernet connection if you have not already.

Are you using a VPN on your connection? Has the router been restarted?
