Recently purchased 4gee mifi device was told open to other networks. Can I use it abroad while holiday in Caribbean? If yes, do I need to change any settings or register for it to work? Cheers

@LHPUK  On contract or PAYG ?  And the device is unlocked so you can use a different network SIM card in it this has nothing todo with using the device abroad unless you want to use a local network.     Using a device abroad and using the EE sim with it is called roaming and you just need to make sure roaming is enabled on the account if it’s on contract,  you’ll also need to purchase a data add on to use it there as the tariff allowance will not be useable there.  Thus includes contract and PAYG.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.
Thanks Chris, this info great to know. If I want to use a local sim will
that work?

Yes, @LHPUK, if the device is unlocked you can use a foreign SIM card in it 🙂

How do I find out if my mifi device is unlocked? I entered the IMEI number on the box it came in on the EE checker and it is unrecognised. I initially bought a one off data card (120GB lasting 12 months, unexpired at the moment) and my online account say I'm not in a contract. I want to use a local data card when we spend time in Spain shortly.

Most of the EE mini,s are still locked to the EE Network. The only sure way of seeing if they are unlocked whist in the UK is to put another Network Sim in, ie Voda, O2, Three.

If your using a Unlocked MiFi Device abroad using the Local Sim from Abroad (ie, not Roaming) you will need to insure that that Sims APN / Profile is set correctly for that local Network Sim.

@Brookers55 : When & where did you buy your mobile router?

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Thanks for the reply. I've established that my 4GEE mifi is locked to the EE network - my phone on the o2 network is not locked as the EE data SIM works in that. On another post you mentioned  the Admin Settings page. I can't find this when I log into my EE account on the EE website. Where do I find this please?

The Routers Admin Settings are nothing to do with your EE Account, they are User Name and Password required to access the Routers Settings, the required info would normally come with the Router, either On the Box, a Keep Me Card, a label on the Router or inside the Battery compartment (remove battery it it has one), the info will include Web Address, ie 192.168.x.x, User Name xxxxx and Password xxxxx.

As a Default you could try 192.168.1.1 with user admin and Password admin may work otherwise your need the unique info for each Router.
