4GEE Wifi Mini - Tado - Connection Issues

Hi,

I've recently bought and set up a 4GEE Wifi Mini to use in an unoccupied house to be able to use Tado smart heating remotely to make sure the heating works (temperamental boiler I'd like to keep an eye on).

I've connected a TP Link wifi extender with an ethernet port to the 4GEE wifi, and use this to connect to the Tado Internet bridge as it needs a wired connection.

This works excellently... until it doesn't. Every day the Tado internet bridge loses connection and the Tado system goes offline, the only way to fix it is to go to the house and reset the 4GEE Wifi Mini router. As this is currently taking a lot of time out of my day, is there any known way to fix this? Or to reset the 4GEE wifi mini remotely?

Cheers!

The 4Gee WiFi Mini will probably Time Out and Shut Down after a while if there is no WiFi Devices connected to it. I'm not sure how it will behave in the absence of no WiFi Connection but having an Ethernet Cable connected, thinking about it I didn't think the Mini had an RJ45 Port.

Depending on the Mini,s model type, there's a few of them now, you may be able to change the time out to none within the Admin Settings, otherwise you could try connecting a mains powered WiFi device to it permanently to keep it awake.

Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately I don't think it's to do with the Mini shutting down, as when I go to the house to reset it my phone connects straight away and the Tado device is still not working.

I have a TPLink wifi extender connected to the Mini so that is how I connect the ethernet cable (and is probably acting as an always on wifi device).

OK, can't help you with the TP Link extender then, the only other pointers would be to look at all the Devices Housekeeping settings and see if there are any Daily resets or restarts going on, another thing is to look at the IP Config of the Setup, also the IP Address from EE will be Dynamically Asigned and not Static, you could also look and perhaps change the Lease Time period, not sure if that's going to help though.

I had the same thought thinking it was something to do with IP address conflicts, but annoyingly the 4GEE mini router doesn't seem to allow me to change to a Static IP or to change lease times, I may be wrong on this front though?

I tried changing these settings on the TPlink extender but unfortunately the problem persists.

The 4GEE WiFi Mini allows no control of the DHCP at all. Awful design!
