4G Home Broadband Speed Issues -Rural Area

Blondebird1972

Good morning,

I have a supplied BT 4G home router on a 300GB plan. I live in a rural area hence no other alternative to home broadband other than 4G (satallite costly!)

Due to poor speed 4-7mb I have paid through EE outsourced company £100 to have an external antenna fitted. Speed difference is minimal. I’ve raised a complaint with EE which has resulted in engineer revisiting & speed has not increased much. There are two masts though a few miles away but pretty clear line of sight, we’re not in a valley!

I’m waiting to see what EE suggests next. I’m not particularly technically minded. I’ve ordered a Poynting XPOL-1 V2 OMNI DIRECTIONAL antenna to be delivered tomorrow.

Does getting a “better” router help? Changing 4G providers? I’ve got Vodaphone 4G on my phone and when I do speed tests on phone these are significantly higher. As I say not particularly technically minded so appreciate any advice.

There’s only two adults in home & we only have tv, Sky, two laptops & two mobiles on network.

Many thanks

Good morning

I have 4G home broadband with the supplied BT router due to living in rural area. I have 300GB monthly allowance. Last three months since using it I have approx 150GB data left at end of month. This month I have 24GB left. There is nothing I can think of to explain where the huge increase in data usage has come from. Non of our usage habits have changed. EE were less than helpful when I rang to ask. Any ideas please? I’m not particularly technically minded. We have TV, Sky, two laptops & two mobile phones in house; two adults.
many thanks

Hi @Blondebird1972

Thanks for coming here.

I would suggest getting back in touch with our tech gurus to get this looked into further and see what options are available.

Thanks.

Leanne.
