Urgent: Unable to Make or Receive Calls While Abroad (Currently in India)

Dear EE Support Team,

I am currently on holiday in India and have been unable to make or receive any calls for over two weeks. My phone shows no service, and I have been unable to reach EE support through 150 or any of your other contact numbers.

I understand that I have not opted for the India roaming package, but I would still like to be able to receive calls and understand that this may incur charges. I also have a £10 spend cap in place.

Unfortunately, as my calls appear to be completely suspended, I have no way to contact EE directly by phone. I have also tried to use the EE app and online help, but I keep being redirected to “call us,” which I am unable to do. I even tried calling the support number from another phone, but the call dropped after a long wait.

Could someone from EE please get in touch with me urgently to help restore my ability to receive calls, or advise on how I can speak to someone online?

Thank you for your understanding and assistance.

Thanks, @Charan1

There's an international number on our Contact Us from Abroad help page. I appreciate that it may be difficult to do, but, if you can find another phone to call from, I recommend calling that so our support team can check your account and help get you connected.

 Hello @Charan1 ,

Welcome to the community,

I would suggest taking a look here this will give you all the details about roaming abroad:

https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Roaming/EE-Roaming-Help-when-abroad-with-your-EE-phone-or-device/td-p/...

You obviously are on contract with EE by the sound of it and did not enable roaming on your account, unless on pay as you go, where roaming is automatically enabled.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using web based app or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

@Charan1 : This isn't EE CS. No one will contact you from this user discussion group other than thro' the medium of these forums by posts such as this. Anyway we haven't the faintest idea who you are. You need to phone CS.

Did you receive a Welcome text upon arrival?

If you are on contract, did you activate roaming on your EE a/c before leaving UK by texting ROAMING to 150? Having a roaming billing add-on doesn't of itself activate roaming on your a/c. Having roaming activated on your EE a/c, not just on your device, is crucial to using your contract SIM abroad.

Often just rebooting the phone is the simple remedy. Also try selecting a network manually rather than auto.

Otherwise if you are on contract you need to call CS to get your roaming activated. Try calling CS on the Freephone no. in my sig. using a web-calling app over WiFi.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Home Broadband & Home Phone or Option 2 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband

Hello, I am currently in India from the UK, I have purchased the India pass for 7 days. I am unable to make any calls or receive any. All out going calls are suspended, I am unable to speak to anyone via Instagram, or online chat feature is unavailable. I have had a family member try calling from the UK but no solution found. Can you either provide me an email to contact or WhatsApp number so that I can solve this asap. I seem to have some sort of block abroad.

@Charan1 , firstly did you use your SIM card to activate it in the UK and make a chargeable call or text before going abroad?

If not, then your SIM card will not work. There is no email to contact EE and no WhatsApp to contact them.

If you have received the welcome message, then try a manual search for a network, have you also tried switching airplane mode on and off and rebooting your device?

If you are on pay as you go, then there is no online chat available, that is only for customers on contract and found in the app by clicking on help.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using web based app or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

Hello, I am on contract with EE. And I did receive the text of welcome to India and purchased the pass as mentioned. However, all out going calls are suspended temporarily is what I’ve been told.

so I’m not sure why I’m facing these issues and what can be done, as I can’t make no calls and I’m in urgent need of my phone back up and running?

I have some sort of block on making or receiving calls. I can’t call 150 or customer service you have shared. I have no means of contract unless it’s ver wifi connection.

what can I do right now to gain access to calls?
I’ve increased my cap to £50 via text which I can do to 150 only.

can someone reach out and help actually fix this issue?

Also to add I’ve tried rebooting my iPhone several times, no changes. To my knowledge I have some sort of block.

can you please help urgently.

@Charan1 : There's really no need to start a new thread about the same matter, esp. when you've already had responses.

@Charan1 , as I mentioned, you need to do a manual search for a network, which you can do by switching off automatic network and going through the different networks to see which one works.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using web based app or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

Whom or what has told you this?

Same question - whom or what has told you this, or led you to suspect this?

Regardless of the answers to the above questions... 1: Can you send & receive text messages? 2: Can you use mobile data? 3: Have you tried manually connecting to alternative local networks?
