Showing Some Appreciation

To some this may come across as a bit odd and is certainly unusual. But I write poems for people. It's a calling in life and after the conversation I had with one of your guides I wrote this for an Irish lady called Katy...

Katy From EE

I don't know if Katy spells her name,

With an 'ie' or a 'y'.

But when she resolved my issue,

A tear came to my eye.

Taking risks in life is rewarding,

But it's also really stressful.

Starting out as a therapeutic poet,

Really should be more restful.

So when I was waiting to speak with someone,

About a cancellation fee.

I cannot say I was doing summersaults,

Shouting "YES!" "AMAZING!!" or "YIPPEE!!!"

But after talking to Katy,

Yes, I've taken a punt that it's spelt with a 'y',

A weight lifted off me,

As I wished her a great weekend,

And shortly after said good bye.

The power of kindness and compassion,

And a good dose of common sense,

For me, in that moment,

Truly felt immense.

So thank you Katy from EE,

You turned a grey cloud into no cloud at all.

And if I'm ever looking for broadband again,

I'll be happy to give EE a call.

A poem for Katy

Oh @SimonJHopker with your clever pen,
You’ve struck a chord with us again!
From cancellation fee dismay,
To “Katy saves the day” hooray!

You guessed the “y” and not the “ie,”
A bold move — poetic ESP!
And Katy, cool as techy breeze,
Just zapped away your billing fees.

No somersaults or fireworks flew,
But calm and joy came shining through.
She worked her magic, said “you’re free!”
(Well… maybe not from your poetry.)

With kindness, wit, and steady tone,
She turned complaint into a poem.
And you, dear bard, took to your craft,
And left us with a hearty laugh.

So here’s to chats that don’t feel meh,
To poets rhyming through their day,
To Katy, queen of customer glee —
And one less cancellation fee!
