Default NAT type set to moderate, earlier this year we moved to EE/BT after being with Sky WiFi for 10+years. The main motivation for the switch was constant instability with Sky and to get full fibre by solving the problems with just faster speeds. When we got the new router with full fibre back in April it was great though we quickly noticed a problem with our Xbox series X having a moderate NAT type something we never had to deal with while with Sky, after looking online we figured out how to port forward it which worked giving it an open NAT type. This was fine with no notable issues over the next 5 months until we recently got a new desktop pc which now also has the moderate NAT type issue first discovered back in April. This causes sporadic packet loss and high ping while playing games on the pc, unfortunately a computer lacks the simplicity of an Xbox when it comes to port forwarding and we are yet to successfully sort this issue though I can assure you it’s not for a lack of trying.
What I want to find out is if the router having a moderate NAT type is something that can be resolved on an engineers end as after talking to a friend who had a similar issue they were able to resolve it once they had made BT aware of the moderate NAT type plaguing their router.
To add further information the WiFi speeds have stayed consistently high even on the pc when doing speed tests so i believe it’s possibly not a hardware issue but more something that needs tweaking on the software front. Please help!
